Shopify Precheckout Verification now falls back to post checkout

Shopify precheckout verification is the process of attempting to verify a user before they reach the checkout page. This is done via a popup modal that appears when the user clicks 'checkout' in which the user enters their information, photos, etc, and is able to proceed to the checkout page once they are verified. Refer to tot-test-store-2.myshopify.com for a working example of a precheckout Shopify store.

There are known issues with shopify precheckout verification, as it can be bypassed (such as directly changing the url path to /checkout). While there is not much we can currently do in that case, we have just added the feature where if a user does indeed try to bypass precheckout verification, they will fallback to our post checkout verification automatically (an email/sms invite sent to them to get verified). How do you setup identity or age verification so that only certain locations need to get verified?

Answer: Use Location-Based Identity Verification. This is enabled via the locationRestrictions.requiresVerification attribute in your application configuration to define which countries and regions require verification. Summary Token of Trust now supports location-based verification requirements through the locationRestrictions configuration. This feature allows you to specify which geographic locations (countries and regions)
