How to complete a customer data erasure request

This also answers the question of how to delete a users verification data, to give them a fresh, clear session

We can get customer data erasure requests from a couple different ways, such as an email from a customer, or from Shopify when a vendor requests a customer data erasure on their storefront. This guide will work for both scenarios.

"Erase Personal Data"

When a Shopify vendor selects "Erase Personal Data", it sends an email to the support team (support@tokenoftrust.com). It will do this for every individual customer that had that button pressed.

Given this access token, copy the entire access token to your clipboard, and go to https://app.tokenoftrust.com/hq/supportOnly/deleteConsumerData. Paste the token into the field, and click Lookup User.

If it cannot find a user, it is either because

  1. They are already deleted
  2. They never existed in the TOT system in the first place (will be common with Shopify GDPR Requests, because not every Shopify customer for a vendor has gone thru verification before, but we can still get the request for redaction)
  3. You are searching using email for a customer when you should be searching via phone, or vice versa

Once the user is found via the lookup user, delete the user
